Welcome Seafarers
For over 30 years, we at Nanaimo Lighthouse Ministries have been faithfully serving the seafarers who dock at our ports in central Vancouver Island (Nanaimo, Duke Point, Harmac Pacific, Mosaic, Chemainus and Crofton). We welcome you to our ports and we're very excited that you have found our virtual seaman's centre.
During this pandemic we have strived to continue our contact with seafarers despite the fact that we cannot visit ships personally. In the beginning of the pandemic we were dropping care packages off at guard shacks, but increased restrictions have not allowed us to continue that practice.
Thankfully, God is not a God of abandonment, and so this virtual seaman's centre represents His continued pursuit of you, and a new way of operating for us (and probably you as well). We're still here for you and we look forward to communicating with you in new and exciting ways. So, here's how we're able to be in touch with you through this virtual seaman's centre:
Blessings to you all,

- We would love to visit with you through Zoom.us. All you need to do is send us a message on our "contact" page and let us know when would be a good time to video chat with you via Zoom. We'll set up a meeting and forward the link, and instructions, to you for downloading the app, and using the program.
- Check out the videos, resources, and blog on this website. We are working to continually add more content to help you through these difficult times.
- You can also submit your prayer requests, ask questions, or chat with us on the "prayer request" page
Blessings to you all,

"I Have All that I Need"
"I have all that I need." Isn't that a comforting statement? Notice it doesn't say that "if I have lots of money, or cars, or friends, or whatever else people pursue for security, but "I have." With the Lord as your shepherd, you "have all that [you] need." The key here is that "the Lord is [your] shepherd;" the one you entrust fully to care for you; that is the key to lasting peace. And that's why we, at Nanaimo Lighthouse Ministries are here. Our entire mission is to bring you peace in hard times, the love of God when you're separated from your loved ones, and hope that no matter what situation you're in, God is in control and He will guide you into perfect peace. Look at verse 2 and see how it talks about "rest" and "peace," and then it says, "He renews my strength." Where there is rest and peace there is renewal because the stress of life is removed and put onto the Lord's shoulders. He promises this in Matthew 11: 28-30, "Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” A yoke is a wooden bar that was placed between two oxen for plowing fields. They would put an experienced ox with a new, young ox, so that the younger would learn from the older. In this verse we have the Lord saying that He will carry the heavy burden for you while you learn His ways of surrendering all of your heavy burdens to Him. Andrew Murray has a wonderful series called "Abide in Christ" (see our resources page to read it). In Chapter 7 - As Your Wisdom, he says, "cultivate the habit of rejoicing in the assurance that the divine wisdom is guiding you, even where you do not yet see the way." You see, the Lord is eternal; He knows the past and He knows the future, and so only He is (read more . . .)
